About the Role
As Chief Electro-Technical Officer on our humanitarian relief vessel, you will be responsible for overseeing all electrical, electronic, and communication systems. This critical role ensures that our vessel maintains reliable power, navigation, and communication capabilities during emergency response missions.
You'll lead the electrical and electronic maintenance team, ensuring that all systems operate at peak efficiency. Your expertise in modern maritime electrical systems, automation, and communication technology will be essential for maintaining our vessel's ability to respond quickly to humanitarian crises along the African coastline.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all electrical and electronic systems operations
- Maintain and troubleshoot power generation and distribution systems
- Manage communication and navigation equipment
- Ensure proper functioning of automation and control systems
- Coordinate with shore-based technical support
- Lead emergency response procedures for electrical systems
- Manage electrical spare parts inventory
- Supervise electrical crew training and development
- Maintain electrical logs and documentation
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations
- Support humanitarian aid delivery operations
- Manage cybersecurity and data protection systems
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Valid STCW III/6 Electro-Technical Officer Certificate of Competency
- Minimum 3 years' experience as Electro-Technical Officer
- Experience with modern marine electrical systems
- Valid medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent)
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Experience with computerized electrical systems
Preferred Experience
- Experience in humanitarian or emergency response operations
- Knowledge of African coastal operations
- Experience with hybrid power systems
- Additional cybersecurity certifications
- Experience with satellite communication systems
- Multilingual skills (French, Portuguese, or Arabic)
